en plein air

Eugene Boudin provided precursory imagery to work of Impressionist painters.

Touring the Impressionism exhibit at the Seattle Art Museum, I watched as his work formed scenes of modern life from subjects and scenes happening in everyday life, out of doors — en plein air. Exhibit viewers marveled at the colors, shapes and figures of these scenes.

What if we applied this same wonder at the everyday scenes that emerge in our own day? To ponder the beauty of a bike commute as if standing in a gallery, taking in colors, shapes and figures with anticipation of paint to canvas?
